Hi,

I don't like that I don't know who is posting but the interviewing was good. One of us got a job - I will let them be the one to spill the beans. The rest of us are still hopeful. It was a busy day. Look forward to seeing the rest of you successfully placed in the school of your choosing.

you will get a job - it's just
one of those things. on the
brighter side of things, you still have another great school classroom experience ahead of you, maybe a state test to take, so you can do all of that first. your right school just isn't ready for you, yet. and they will be lucky to get you. cantwell

Hi Everyone,

The career fair was quite an experience. I understand that there weren’t that many Middle or High School positions available. There were around 100 elementary positions, mostly in South/East Naples and Immokalee.

Those of us that attended the Orientation on Thursday night were encouraged when they told us that there would be contracts given out, on the spot. I would say by 9 a.m., we had all come to the conclusion that contracts were being given out but probably wouldn’t be given out to our group. We are lowest on the “totem pole”, due to our lack of experience. A few principles mentioned the lack of actual in classroom experience and suggested substituting as much as possible, while looking for a position.

So, I took the attitude that I would interview with as many schools as possible, while I was there. I hoped that when additional positions opened up this summer, a principle would remember me and give me a chance.

At the end of the day, I had a wonderful meeting with the principle of Avalon Elementary. It was amazing. We just seemed to hit it off, right from the start. Okay, I’ll cut to the chase……I will be teaching 4th grade at Avalon Elementary School for the 2007-2008 school year.

I am so excited and nervous! I am most happy about the fact that now, when we have to create lesson plans to present for our EPI classes, I can gear it toward a lesson I might actually be presenting next year.

See you all on Saturday. - Kim
